Nature Walks with Alexy at African Heritage Garden
Alexy Irving participated in an artist residency with SAIC from April 2023 - October 2023. During this artist residency, I provided North Lawndale residents accessibility to gardens that were not easily accessible to the public. The Pippin family joined Alexy on August 12th to visit the African Heritage Garden. The African Heritage Garden is located in North Lawndale and features an Africa shaped bed, a lot of bee watering holes and herbs like Catmint and Geranium which engaged the children's attention and senses. The youth got to choose and harvest a personal herb blend for their mother to make tea out of at home.
